Moderate Earthquake Shakes Southern Mexico Without Immediate Damage
(MENAFN) A moderately strong earthquake struck southern parts of Mexico on Monday morning, as indicated by official seismic monitoring data.
According to information released by the National Seismological Service, the quake measured 5.6 in magnitude and occurred at 09:19 a.m. local time (1519 GMT). Its epicenter was located approximately 24 kilometers west of Pinotepa Nacional, within Oaxaca, at a relatively shallow depth of 9 kilometers.
Initial assessments suggested a slightly higher magnitude of 6 before further analysis refined the figure.
Meanwhile, data from the United States Geological Survey presented slightly different measurements, estimating the earthquake at magnitude 5.7 and placing its depth at around 22.2 kilometers.
As stated by reports, there have been no immediate indications of injuries or structural damage following the tremor.
