Iran Warns US, UAE Against Escalation, Rejects Military Approach in Hormuz
(MENAFN) Iran has stated that there is “no military solution to a political crisis,” while issuing warnings to the United States and the United Arab Emirates over rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports.
In comments shared early Tuesday on the US social media platform X, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that developments in the strategic waterway demonstrate the limits of military action. He stated: “Events in Hormuz make clear that there’s no military solution to a political crisis,” adding: “As talks are making progress with Pakistan's gracious effort, the U.S. should be wary of being dragged back into quagmire by ill-wishers. So should the UAE.”
Araghchi also dismissed a US proposal referred to as “Project Freedom,” which aims to escort commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, responding: “Project Freedom is Project Deadlock.”
His remarks come amid a renewed escalation in the region. Iran reportedly carried out missile and drone attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates on Monday, marking the first such incidents since a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States came into effect last month.
The UAE later said it experienced a fourth wave of incoming missiles and drones, claiming that its air defense systems intercepted 15 missiles and four drones.
In a separate incident, a fire broke out at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone on the UAE’s eastern coast, an important energy facility, after it was struck by a drone reportedly launched from Iran.
The developments highlight growing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, as diplomatic and military pressures continue to intensify in the region.
