U.S. Stock Markets Dip in First Post-Christmas Session

(MENAFN) The New York Stock Exchange ended the week on a lower note during the initial trading session following the Christmas holiday break.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a minor decline of 0.04%, or 20.19 points, finishing at 48,710.97 points.

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq decreased by 0.09%, or 20.21 points, settling at 23,593.01, and the S&P 500 slipped 0.03%, or 2.11 points, to 6,929.94.

U.S. stock markets, which were closed on Thursday in observance of Christmas, saw reduced activity on Friday.

Market analysts noted that trading volumes continue to be thin following the holiday period.

On the corporate front, technology leader Nvidia rose 1% after revealing a licensing deal with chip startup Groq for "inference technology."
