Russia, India Eye Hypersonic BrahMos Advancement
Rane, speaking from Moscow, highlighted that various adaptations of the BrahMos missile system already exist and have been gradually enhanced by both nations over the years.
He explained that “the technology bricks are being laid by the Russian side and the Indian side,” and suggested that once those technological components are fully in place, “there will be a BrahMos hypersonic missile someday.”
This statement reflects long-term planning and consistent cooperation between the two countries in the realm of missile technology.
The BrahMos missiles are assembled by BrahMos Aerospace, a collaborative enterprise between India and Russia named after the Brahmaputra and Moskva rivers.
The Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) possesses a 50.5% ownership in the firm, while the Russian company NPO Mashinostroyenia controls the remaining 49.5%.
Earlier on Sunday, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the “outstanding role” the BrahMos missile system played in safeguarding India during ‘Operation Sindoor,’ a military engagement with Pakistan in May.
He described their contribution as a “miraculous feat,” underscoring their critical significance in national defense.
