Gaza Pleads for Aid as Iran-Israel Conflict Grabs Spotlight

(MENAFN) As military tensions between Iran and Israel intensify, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are gripped by growing fear that the worsening conflict will deepen their humanitarian crisis and further sideline their longstanding struggle.

In Gaza City, 40-something Ibrahim al-Faryani, a civil servant with the Palestinian Authority, is glued to the news as reports of airstrikes between Tehran and Tel Aviv dominate headlines.

"Now, global attention has shifted to Tehran and Tel Aviv, and Gaza has fallen off the media radar," al-Faryani said. "This loss of international focus may allow Israel to escalate violations here without scrutiny or accountability."

Since the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Iran on June 13, residents in Gaza say humanitarian aid has sharply decreased. Ongoing border closures have made it nearly impossible for relief supplies to reach the population.

"The humanitarian situation is deteriorating rapidly," said Mohammed Al-Emawi, a university student from the Shuja'iyya neighborhood. "No aid is entering. Hospitals are running out of basic supplies, and yet we receive little international coverage."

He fears that with the world's eyes turned to the Iran-Israel front, Gaza’s suffering will be buried even deeper, despite already enduring months of warfare and blockade.

Yet, amid the anxiety, some residents dare to hope that the broader regional crisis might unexpectedly create space for Gaza in future diplomatic talks.

"Perhaps this war will reshape the region," said Salem Subaih, a resident of Gaza City. "If a major international agreement emerges, we hope Gaza will be included."

According to West Bank-based political analyst Adel Samara, the fallout from the Iran-Israel clash could cut both ways for Gaza.

"On one hand, Gaza suffers from reduced media attention and worsening humanitarian conditions. On the other hand, this war might offer an opportunity to include Gaza in any future regional arrangement, especially if global powers become involved in de-escalation efforts," Samara told a news outlet.

He added that Palestinian political factions are closely monitoring developments, fully aware that shifting regional dynamics may redefine Gaza’s strategic relevance.
