Israel Sets Total Elimination of Iran’s Nuclear Program
Halperin stated that diplomatic engagement will only be considered after this fundamental objective is met.
“Israel is attacking the objects and individuals that lead the Iranian nuclear program, that lead the program to destroy Israel, as well as all those who would pose a military threat to Israel,” she explained during a media briefing held at the Israeli Embassy on Monday.
When questioned by a news agency about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to broker discussions between West Jerusalem and Tehran, the ambassador emphasized that Israel’s top priority remains dismantling Iran’s nuclear initiative.
“Israel’s number one priority” is to eliminate Iran’s “desire, ability and intention” to carry on with its nuclear program, Halperin told the news agency.
She remarked that discussing peace efforts at this stage is premature.
“I think it's way too early to think about ‘who, when, and how’,” she noted, highlighting the need to address the essential matters of Iran’s capabilities and motives. This, she clarified, is the purpose behind Israel’s current military actions.
“After we resolve these issues, we will see how we can proceed,” Halperin concluded.
