Russian Intelligence Accuses London, Kiev of Worsening War
In a statement released on Monday, the SVR highlighted an increase in collaboration between Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), its military intelligence unit (GUR), and British intelligence agencies.
This development, according to the SVR, is a consequence of Kiev’s “mounting battlefield setbacks and deepening moral exhaustion,” which have led Ukrainian authorities to rely more heavily on their Western allies for strategic planning.
The SVR claimed that these acts of sabotage follow a consistent model: British personnel design and coordinate the plans, while Ukrainian forces execute them.
As an example, the agency referenced recent railway sabotage incidents in Russia’s Bryansk and Kursk Regions, which the Russian government has condemned as Ukrainian “terrorist attacks.”
These acts resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and injured more than 120 people, including minors.
Additionally, the drone strikes on Russian airbases conducted on June 1 were identified by the SVR as part of this same strategy.
The agency warned that this “Anglo-Ukrainian terrorist tandem” is actively preparing further assaults.
Their purported aim, according to the SVR, is to escalate the ongoing hostilities, hinder any potential rapprochement between Moscow and Washington, and persuade the U.S. administration to persist in delivering substantial military aid to Kiev.
