U.S. Deports Over 56,200 Mexicans in 2025
Speaking at a news briefing, Arturo Medina, Undersecretary for Human Rights, Population and Migration, outlined the impact of the repatriation initiative "Mexico Embraces You", which was introduced as a direct response to intensified U.S. immigration enforcement.
The program has welcomed 24,082 deported individuals at support facilities located near the border. In addition to receiving immediate aid, returnees have been given over 92,246 meals, as well as access to 9,786 medical consultations and 4,019 psychological care sessions. Legal guidance and services for survivors of gender-based violence have also been provided.
“More than 19,282 people were given a Paisano Welfare Card, which offers 2,000 pesos (105 U.S. dollars) for travel expenses to their communities of origin, and our fellow citizens have been incorporated into Bienestar (welfare) programs,” Medina stated.
To ease reintegration, deportees have been assisted in retrieving essential documents like birth certificates and national ID cards. Medina also highlighted that with the backing of private companies, 2,495 returnees have already been linked with employment opportunities.
