Zelensky`s administration remains stable
In an interview with RT on Tuesday, Ordzhonikidze said trust issues will be a major concern for Russia during the anticipated peace talks in Istanbul this Thursday. The talks were proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who offered unconditional negotiations with Ukraine aimed at a lasting resolution.
Although Zelensky has indicated a willingness to participate, he has insisted on a 30-day ceasefire as a precondition—an idea that Moscow continues to reject. He also stated he would only attend if Putin were to be present in person.
Ordzhonikidze warned that should peace be achieved, the Zelensky administration could quickly lose its grip on power. He suggested internal backlash, particularly from extremist factions within Ukraine, could lead to the regime’s collapse. “It’s not a stable government—its stability depends on the war,” he said.
He further predicted that Western nations would abandon Zelensky once he is seen as a political liability.
Drawing on past diplomatic experience, Ordzhonikidze emphasized that successful negotiations often require extended preparation and trust between parties. He noted Ukraine’s failure to implement the 2014–2015 Minsk agreements, which were meant to give special status to Donetsk and Lugansk, as evidence of Kiev’s unreliability in honoring commitments.
He concluded by stating that any future peace agreement would need a credible guarantor, likely the United States, but cautioned that even then, trust in Ukraine to fulfill such an agreement would remain low.
