Authorities Name Suspect in Deadly Vehicle Blast in Southern California
"The subject had nihilistic ideations," stated Akil Davis, the assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles field office. Davis further characterized the explosion as "a targeted attack."
"Make no mistake: we are treating this, as I said yesterday, as an intentional act of terrorism," Davis emphasized during a Sunday press conference. He also revealed that the suspect was attempting to broadcast the bombing live online.
Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills confirmed at the same press conference that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities still gathering evidence from the scene.
Despite the incident, Chief Mills assured the public that "this city is safe" and "there is no continuing threat to our community as a result of this incident."
